This week in Grade 2 ...

... "we showed our best writing with an October Writing Sample."
... "we learned how to estimate numbers. An estimate is guessing how many things are in a collection."
... "we learned about communities and how culture and traditions make a community unique."
... "we made an insulator to keep an ice cube cold."
... "we ordered numbers from 1st to 10th."
... "we started to make a story using a story mountain."
... "we read 'The Jelly Donut Difference' and made Kindness Donuts. Our Kindness Donuts have kind words and promises on them."
... "we read 'The Girl Who Hated Books' and we learned that by reading books every day, we learn millions of words."
... "we read 'Room on the Broom' and talked about the most important part of the story. The most important part of the story was when the animals worked together to save the witch, because the witch was kind to the animals so the animals were kind back to her."

A couple reminders ... please remember to bring a water bottle with you every day and an extra snack for our second snack time. The weather is getting colder, please remember to dress for the weather everyday!
